Hi, I’m Beth from Healthy Words.
I’m a health writer and editor with a particular interest in translating complex health and medical information into plain English for a non-specialist audience.
That could mean turning ‘unexpected mortality events’ into ‘sudden deaths’ or rephrasing an enquiry about ambulatory care skills to a question about walking easily.
After several years in health policy development and health services management in the UK, I shifted both country and mindset to work for health and disability not-for-profit groups in Australia. These included large peak bodies and small grassroots organisations. I’m able to read research literature and retain its accuracy while putting it into plain English so that policymakers and health consumers can understand it and apply it to their situation.
At Healthy Words, I write copy for articles, member communications, submissions to parliamentary or professional inquiries, media releases, opinion pieces, speeches, and consumer health information. I’ll help you capitalise on opportunities to reach your audience without adding to your own workload.
