Get to know me
I fell into copywriting.
After majoring in Anthropology (and finding that academia wasn’t for me), I saw an ad for a trade journalist covering the pipeline industry.
Most budding writers would turn up their nose at the topic (and 7am starts), but I loved it.
I loved learning about the industry and the companies within it. And I really liked helping these businesses clearly explain the benefits of their product or service without being too heavy-handed with the sales jargon.
Time went on, and I was introduced to more tasks that I loved: drafting marketing EDMs, website copy and marketing brochures.
By the end of my 10 years at that company, I’d moved into other departments – BD, events, sales, and management.
Sales taught me how important it was to listen and truly understand the client. It taught me how best to address common objections and the importance of making the purchasing decision and process as easy as possible.
The BD and management roles made everything fit together. Writing – marketing – sales – strategy. Using these four skills I refined my copywriting to get more results.
I love connecting with people by writing. But more specifically, I love connecting businesses with other businesses that can help them grow.
